$1.2 million in cash and kind donated to track club as part of commitment to JAAA
Kingston, May 12, 2012 —Grace Foods and Services (GFS) the official nutrition sponsor of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) recently donated $1.2million in cash and products to Racers Track Club.
The donation took place at a Nutrition Boot Camp for athletes of the Racers Track Club and the University of the West Indies, hosted by GFS and presented by noted nutrition expert Dr Heather Little White.
“Our commitment to the JAAA manifests in how well we influence our athletes to eat for optimum performance,” said Tania Christie, marketing manager, GFS. “By hosting the Nutrition Boot Camp and by supporting the clubs with money and Grace products we are able to connect with the athletes on an individual basis.”
The funds for the Grace Foods and Services partnership with the JAAA will be garnered from the donation of ten cents from the sale of seven of Grace’s flagship products: Grace Vienna Sausages, Grace 5-5 oz Mackerel, Grace Corned Beef, Grace Franks, Grace 16 oz Tropical Rhythms, Grace Tomato Ketchup and Grace Cock Soup.
In accepting the donation Glen Mills, Racers Track Club coach said, “This support will definitely help us to do what we need to do this season. I see already that American athletes are sending signals, but now we are prepared to reply in a big way.”
